USMLE Wise
How to use USMLE Wise

From blank profile to a signal-smart match list, in six steps.

Fifteen minutes of setup, then the engine works for you all season.

01

Build your profile — honestly

≈ 5 minutes

Sign up and fill in your specialty, degree path, Step scores, research, US clinical experience, visa need, and graduation year. The engine is only as sharp as what you feed it, so use your real numbers — this is a planning tool, not an application.

Have your Step 2 CK score, publication counts, and USCE months at hand. Not sure about a field? Leave it — you can update it any time and re-run.
02

Read your dashboard from the top down

≈ 10 minutes

The headline number is the interviews you can realistically count on from Safety and Likely programs. Below it, every program in your specialty is sorted into Reach, Target, Likely, and Safety based on your real odds — and the ones that would filter you out are named, with the reason.

Click any program to see exactly why it ranked where it did. The 'filtered out' list saves you real money — don't apply into a hard gate.
03

Follow the signal plan

The part that wins interviews

This is the biggest problem in the modern Match: where to spend a handful of gold and silver signals. The optimizer places each one where it buys the most expected interviews — never on a program you'd get anyway, never on one that would filter you out.

Golds go where the lift is largest, usually strong Targets and reachable Reaches. Each program card shows odds with and without the signal, so you see the lift.
04

Build your application list around the tiers

Before ERAS opens

Anchor your list with Safeties and Likelies, weight it with Targets, and cap it with the Reaches your signals champion. Aim for a distribution, not a prestige list — the dashboard's expected-interview counts tell you when your list is deep enough.

A balanced list usually beats a bigger one. Stop adding when the expected count plateaus.
05

Re-run every time something changes

All season long

New Step 2 score, a publication accepted, a visa decision — update your profile and hit Re-run. All 7,127 programs are re-scored in milliseconds, and your tiers and signal plan shift with you. Your access covers the whole Match cycle, so keep coming back.

Re-run before you finalize signals in ERAS — budgets and data move during the season.
06

Want a second brain? Book the 1-on-1

Optional

With the 1-on-1 Specialist package, a match specialist sits with you live, walks your dashboard together, and finalizes the most efficient signal and program list for your exact situation — then sends you a written summary of the strategy.
